Guide
Number your projects with Job No
Give every project an organization-wide sequential number, the way many teams already number their project folders (for example, “99. Carl Zeiss Jena Germany”). WorkWiser suggests the next number for you, keeps it editable, and lets you sort and search by it.
Job No is a plain, whole number you can put on any project. It mirrors the folder-numbering convention many teams keep on their shared drive or PDM vault, so the number in WorkWiser matches the number on disk.
Numbers are organization-wide rather than per client, so each project takes its own place in one running sequence.
Set a Job No
Create or edit a project
Open New Project from the Projects page, or open an existing project and click Edit.
Take the suggestion, or type your own
On a new project the Job No field is pre-filled with the next number in the sequence (your highest number so far, plus one). Keep it, change it, or clear it. On an existing project the field shows its current number; if it has none, a “Use N” shortcut fills in the suggested next one.
Save
The number appears on the project header as “No. N” and in the Job No column on the Projects list.
Working with numbers
Sort by number
The Projects list has a Job No column. Click its header to sort projects in numeric order; unnumbered projects fall to the end.
Search by number
Type a number into the Projects search box to jump straight to that project.
Backfill at your own pace
Older projects can stay unnumbered and show a dash. Add numbers whenever you like by editing each project.
The suggestion is only a suggestion
WorkWiser never forces a number and never blocks a repeat. The pre-filled value is simply the next in sequence, so you are free to reuse a number, skip ahead, or leave gaps. That flexibility matters when you are matching numbers that already exist in your folders.
