Compose deliverable titles with Title formats
Decide how each deliverable’s title reads across WorkWiser by composing it from the deliverable’s own fields plus its project’s, for example “{Job No}. {Title} - {Drawing No}”. Like project titles, you build the format once and every deliverable follows it.
A deliverable title format works exactly like the project one: field chips and plain text, filled in fresh each time a title is drawn. It is display only, nothing is written onto the deliverable, and clearing the format brings back the plain title instantly.
The difference is the palette. A deliverable can pull from its own fields, from its project’s fields (including Job No), from the client, and from your custom fields, so a title can read “Job No. Title - Drawing No”.
Before you start
- You need the Admin role to set the organization default (Settings, Workflow, Title formats).
- A client or a single project can override the default from its own detail page, if you can edit that client or project.
Build a deliverable title format
Open the Deliverable title editor
Go to Settings, then Workflow, and find the Title formats section. Use the Deliverable title editor.
Add fields from the four groups
The “+ Field” menu groups the chips: Deliverable (Title, Status, Priority, dates, Assignee), Project (Job No, Name, Code, Site, City, Country), Client, and your Custom Fields.
Custom fields resolve to what you see, not raw ids: a dropdown shows its option label, a date shows as “15 Jan 2026”, a person shows their name.
Type the separators and save
Type the punctuation between chips, such as “. ” or “ - ”. The live preview shows the title against a real deliverable. When it reads right, click Save.
How it behaves
Three levels, most specific wins
A deliverable title uses the project’s override first, then the client’s default, then the organization default. Leave a level empty to inherit the next one down. With nothing set, the plain deliverable title is used.
See what an empty level inherits
While a level is empty, it shows the format it inherits from the level below as faded chips, and the live preview uses that inherited format. Click the faded chips to start your own from it, or leave it empty to keep inheriting.
Empty fields collapse cleanly
If a deliverable has no value for a chip, that chip and its separator disappear. “{Job No}. {Title} - {Drawing No}” with no drawing number reads “99. Title”, with no dangling dash.
It shows everywhere you pick a deliverable
The composed title appears in the deliverables table, the deliverable drawer’s header, and the log-time picker, and search matches both the composed title and the underlying fields.
